First Day of Work

Yesterday was my first day of work here at the hospital. Even though my medical license hasn't officially come through yet, I was asked if I would come and assist with a specific surgery. So, I showed up and was informed that because the patient's blood pressure was high, the surgery needed to be postponed. There was another surgery on the schedule though, that I could assist with. So, I scrubbed in for that surgery and as we were starting, we were given the message that an emergency c-section needed to be done. So, I left that surgery and did the c-section with the family practice intern, while the other ob/gyn continued with the first surgery. All went well and a healthy and very cute baby boy was soon born. I have a feeling many days will turn out like this one, where what I planned to do, isn't what I actually do.
