Our family on Easter

Today we are celebrating Easter Sunday here in Kenya. Our day began with an early sunrise service outdoors overlooking the beautiful Rift Valley. It is a nice clear day with a great view. We are currently in the middle of the ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) conference being held here. There are Christian educators from all over Africa here for this conference. So, there are various conference sessions being held throughout the day. Thor has been attending a number of these that are geared for teachers. I have attended some of the sessions of the main speakers as well.

There was an Easter egg hunt for the small children this morning. Torsten and Torrie both had great fun getting to hunt for plastic eggs. It's interesting that Easter is much less commercialized here than in the U.S. There was very little Easter candy in the stores. I never saw a single chocolate bunny or plastic easter eggs here.

Torsten and I dyed some Easter eggs several days ago. It was somewhat different, as the eggs here are all brown to begin with. We made homemade dye with Kenyan food colors, so the egg colors turned out quite interesting. Torsten thought it was fun and has eaten more hard boiled eggs in the last few days than he has in the past year.

We will be leaving on Tuesday for a 1 week trip out to the coast, south of Mombasa. We are looking forward to a nice time of relaxation there.
