Decorating for Christmas
One of the big differences here from the U.S., is that there is much less commercialism surrounding Christmas. Real Christmas trees aren't available at all, and it's hard to even find a small artificial tree or other decorations in the stores. The Kenyans don't make nearly as big of a deal about Christmas as we Americans do. We did set up our small very fake looking artificial tree, and the kids had a lot of fun with it. After we had finished decorating our tree, Torsten proceeded to remove all of the ornaments from it the next morning before the rest of us had woken up, so we got to decorate it all over again. One of the good things about Kenyan Christmas decorations is that they're all made of plastic, so the kids can't break them!
