Yesterday, we celebrated Thanksgiving here. We got together with several other families and had a traditional American Thanksgiving feast of turkey and all the trimmings. Since pumpkin pie is a favorite of our family (except for Torsten, who won't touch it), I decided to make one. Making pumpkin pie here is a much more involved process than what I was used to back home. We started the process last Saturday, when Torrie and I walked to the vegetable market to buy a pumpkin. As you can see from the picture, the pumpkins here are not orange, but a green or gray color. However, the inside is orange. On Monday, we cut up our pumpkin, peeled it, and cooked it. Once it was cooled, I mashed it, so it would be ready for pie. On Wednesday, I made a pie crust and mixed together the pie filling, and baked it. It was worth the effort, as it came out perfectly and was delicious!
