Baby Kammie has arrived!
Our new little daughter, Kamilla Adelaide, "Kammie", arrived early this morning. I had been having contractions for the last several days, but not in a consistent pattern. Around midnight last night, I woke up due to the discomfort of the contractions, and found they were coming every 5-7 minutes or so. They continued to become more intense and closer together, so I figured this was finally real labor. I had an inflatable birth tub at our house, that I planned to use so I could labor in warm water, so Thor got that set up and ready for me. I got into the tub around 2 AM and found it really helped to ease the discomfort.
I had planned with my doctor, that I wanted to labor at home as long as possible, and that if things went quickly, we would be prepared for a home birth. Everything couldn't have worked out better. One of the missionary nurses here agreed to come to our home as a labor coach and assistant. We called her around 4 AM, and she came over. Things progressed pretty rapidly from that time. A little before six, I felt the urge to push. I only pushed two times, and could tell the head was crowning. Dr. Smith arrived right then and was here for the final push and delivery of the baby. I was so thankful to not have to go to the hospital and that I was able to have another water birth, as I've done with my others. Baby Kammie seemed healthy and well, so we didn't even bring her to the hospital. The pediatrician here came over later and checked her over and found she was fine. I was very glad to have her safely here and happy for how smoothly everything went.
Torsten and Torrie spent the day with some of our friends here, which allowed us to catch up on some sleep. They returned in the evening and were excited to get to meet their new little sister.
