God's Protection

Torrie and I went into Nairobi with a group of ladies yesterday to do some shopping, while Torsten stayed home with Fridah. The shopping trip went well, and we were on our way home when we had a scary incident. We were getting close to home, and it was very foggy with limited visibility. A matatu was stopped in the road due to a cow, and we came upon it very suddenly with no time to stop. It was obvious we were going to hit it, so our driver swerved to the right to avoid it. However, a bus was coming in the other direction and it swerved over to the right just in time to avoid hitting us head on. We ended up in just a minor accident, hitting the back corner of the matatu, but it definitely could have been much worse, so we're thankful for God's protection. After the accident, we pulled over to the side of the road, but we weren't sure what to do next. While we were placing a cell phone call to one of the ladies' husbands, a bus from our school drove by and saw us stopped there, and pulled over to help. There were two of the Kenyan workers from our school in it, who were able to negotiate with the matutu driver for a fair price for us to pay for their damages. So, we paid them and drove off. We were very thankful they showed up, as they were a big help to us.
