Political Havoc Continues

We are now in the second week of the school term, and things are going fine here on campus. Unfortunately the political situation here hasn't really improved at all. The violence is continuing, and people continue to be killed daily. The violence has actually been moving closer to our area. The Kikuyu people are now attacking those of other tribes in retaliation for what their tribes have done to other Kikuyu. Threats were made again to those in our community who are not Kikuyu that they needed to leave or they would be forced out. Unfortunately, a number of hospital employees are not Kikuyu, and have left the area. My Kenyan ob/gyn colleague is Luo, and has moved away with his family. They will probably not return here again. This of course has significantly increased the workload for myself and the other part time ob/gyn here.

Thor's Dad was going to come out from the States to visit us in March, but is now cancelling his trip, as travel around the country is really not predictably safe, as it used to be.

I was able to attend the annual AIM ladies conference in Nairobi this past weekend. I had a great time, and it was very nice to get away from the kids and housework for a weekend. Kammie came along with me, and she behaved very well and got lots of attention, which she enjoyed.
