There are many Masai people living in the valley below us, and we have become friends with a number of them. Two of them who are guards here at the school recently invited us to their homes for a meal. It was about an hour's drive from here, way out in the countryside. They are an interesting tribe in that they still hold to their traditional ways of dress and lifestyle to a greater degree than most other tribes here in Kenya. These families live very simply, with no electricity or running water. They are traditionally herdsman of cattle and goats. Our friends slaughtered one of their goats for our meal. We had a nice visit, and it was an interesting day.
