Samburu Safari
We just returned from a really nice trip to Samburu, about a 6 hour drive north of us in a very remote area. It was a big change in climate from here, as it was very hot and arid. The kids did amazingly well on the long drive there and back, as it was a hot and dusty drive, and almost 2 hours of it was on unpaved roads. We stayed in a small riverfront cabin at a lodge there. There were monkeys everywhere at the lodge. They were very cute but a little pesky as well. One of them grabbed a box of milk right out of Torrie's hands. We saw a number of crocodiles at the river by the lodge. We went on several game drives and saw lots of animals there, including lions, elephants, zebra, giraffe, oryx, cape buffalo, and much more. The kids also really enjoyed getting to go swimming each day. Even Kammie had a great time in the pool. It was interesting to see a part of Kenya that we hadn't been to before.
After our time in Samburu, we spent several days in Nairobi at the Mennonite Guesthouse. The kids loved it there, as there was a playground, a giant sandbox, and a fun playroom for them. It gave us a chance to do some shopping and other needed errands as well.
Now we're back home again and getting ready for Christmas!

It's great you guys get out and see so much of the country! I wish I had seen more when I was there, but I guess I was pretty limited to the RVA grounds :-)
Your kids are so fortunate! What rich experiences! That's really wonderful! That's funny about the monkeys and the milk (reading it as an outsider :)
